Casa di Puglia isn't a school. It's an experience. I had my doubts when the course began because of its casual style. Yet after only one week I found my Italian had improved, that I was comfortable speaking in the shops and that I had adopted a more "italian attitude". La dolce vita! Je suis trés contente de mes cours à Casa di Puglia. On se sent vraiment comme chez soi dans la cuisine de Stani, le professeur qui, pendant la pause, nous prépare des "friselline" et/ou du café. En ce qui me concerne, comme j'etais la seule dans le niveau avancé à cette période (19 au 30 septembre) j'ai bènéficié de cours particuliers. Stani a repéré les erreurs que je fais de façon régulière et désormais je vais m'efforcer de ne plus les faire. Ce qui me plait dans ce cours, c'est que n'est pas un cours standard. Stani travaille en fonction de la personnalité des étudiants tout en tenant compte bien évidemment de leur niveau de connaissance de la langue. Toutefois il considère que le plus important  c'est de communiquer. J'ai aussi beaucoup aimé les excursions avec Stani. Cela m'a permis de découvrir les Pouilles, une region encore authentique où l'on trouve de bons produits du terroir (à manger et a à boire) et où l'on peut voir des endroits enchanteurs comme, par exemple, Polignano a Mare. Je conseille à tous les étudiants étrangers qui veulent apprendre l'italien de vénir à Ostuni (la Ville Blanche). C'est une petite ville où l'on se sent bien et puis il y a la mer à 7 kms. le seul problème c'est que hors-saison, les autobus ne sont pas assez fréquents. Sono contentissima del mio corso a Casa di Puglia. Ci si sente davvero a casa propria nella cucina di Stani, l'insegnante, che durante le pause ci fa le friselline e/o il caffè. Per quanto mi riguarda, essendo la sola al livello avvanzato a quel periodo (dal 19 al 30 settembre) ho praticamente avuto delle lezioni private. Stani ha individuato i miei soliti errori e, da ora in poi, starò più attenta a non farli più. Quello che mi è piaciuto nel corso è che non è un corso standard. Stani lavora a seconda della personalità degli studenti tenendo conto sicuramente del loro livello di conoscenza della lingua. Comunque la cosa più importante per lui è communicare. Mi sono anche piaciute molto le escursioni con Stani che mi ha fatto scoprire la Puglia, una regione ancora autentica dove si mangia e si beve bene e si vedono posti incantevoli come ad esempio Polignano a Mare. Consiglio a tutti gli studenti stranieri che vogliono imparare l'italiano di venire ad Ostuni, la Città Bianca. È una piccola città dove ci si sente bene e poi c'è il mare a 7 kilometri dalla città. Casa di Puglia is no ordinary language school. For a week it has been a way of life. Lessons took place in the teacher's home - a beautyful old Ostuni house, rich in history and atmosphere. It gave me a sense of place and encouraged me to embrace the language and culture of Puglia. Lessons were interactive and informative but above all fun! The teacher's sense of humour and his acting ability, brought to life the use of language when negotiating the potential pitfalls of being in a foreign country for the first time. I made fresh pasta -orecchiette- and a fresh tomato sauce. I visited a local ceramic centre, an archeological site of great importance to the area and caught glimpses of the famous "trulli" of Puglia. I have adquired new skills, made new friends and gathered precious memories. My experience has been wonderful - positive and enjoyable and one I fully intend to repeat next year! I spent a most enjoyable week studying at Casa di Puglia. Stani creates a very good learning environment, one which is very relaxed and friendly. I was pleased with my progress in terms of conversation skills, vocabulary and grammar. Casa di Puglia, though, offers a real insight into Puglian culture, and Stani was very enthusiastic in offering me the chance to go to a wide variety of events suche as a concert featuring Pizzica music, and wine and cheese tastings. I also loved Ostuni's great selection of cafes, bars, salumerie, focaccerie. Most of all though, I loved the cooking of Stani's wife, Carmen - just exquisite, and she, like Stani, is very welcoming and friendly. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend both Casa di Puglia and Ostuni if you are considering a vacation and would like to learn about the Italian language and the culture of Puglia.  Ian W. The course at Casa di Puglia was excellent. I stayed for a week in Puglia, in Ostuni, with a very kind host family who lived nearby. The lessons every morning were  hours long and with just two students in Stani's house. We covered many topics and language ideas. Stani is an excellent teacher and takes the trouble to listen and correct his students. A most enjoyable week and worth the cost of the course and accommodation. Thank you. Ann T. I didn't think my Italian would improve in such a short time, but it did! I think I even got my head around the grammar in the end! Cara Carmen, caro Stani, il mio soggiorno qui in Puglia ha superato le mie idée. Grazie a voi e ai miei nuovi amici ostunesi ho avuto la possibilità di immergermi nella cultura italiana. Ho conosciuto i sapori, i profumi, i odori e la gente del mezzogiorno. La Puglia sa di olio d'oliva, pomodori, orecchiette e vino. L'Italia del Sud è blu come il mare, verde come gli ulivi, rosa come l'oleandro e bianca come i vicoli di Ostuni. La gente del posto è aperta, cordiale, premurosa e sempre disposta a fare due chiacchiere, anche con austriaci J. Inoltre ho approfittato tanto delle lezioni a casa vostra. Erano sempre varie, divertenti e veramente "italiane", cioè: non mancavano mai gli scherzi, i gusti, il buon vino e le frise J. Grazie mille per la vostra ospitalità e anche per la buona organizzazione dei nostri escursioni. Per terminare, vorrei citare un bel proverbio: "Le lingue sono le porte al mondo". After completing a 2 week course at Casa di Puglia with Stani, I have to say that it was an incredible experience. Stani is a very gifted teacher. He has the ability to impart his knowledge in a way that is enjoyable and fun rather than being a rote learning experience. He transformed many of our experiences while touring Puglia into extremely valuable lessons that tied into his grammar lessons. I began at a very basic level, only having some vocabulary base. I did not speak or understand more than single words. For 10 days (4 hours per day) stani spoke only Italian as he thaught the class. Within days, I was understanding 80% of his lectures. By the end of class, we were discussing some newspaper articles. He is very patient and flexible and always able to think and illustrate a single concept in many different ways. He is also very relaxed and has such a great sense of humor, I didn't feel threatened or embaressed. My only regret is that I couldn't continue for another 3 weeks. The two week intensive language class at Casa di Puglia was fantastic. I was looking for a small group of adults that would be able to interact directly with the teacher. As an older adult, just learning Italian, I wanted a more tailored program that would give me a solid foundation to be able to continue on my own. Stani is an excellent teacher. He constantly wove our everyday experiences and sidetrips into wonderful learning journeys. I did not feel that I needed to memorize rote rules and lists: stani was able to teach necessary skills using personal experiences that related to me as an adult. I loved the fact that we started to communicate in Italian from the very beginning of class. It was amazing to feel the growth from simple sentences to more complex ideas from the newspaper and tv. stani has a gift to make learning fun. Many times he was able to explain from a different angle. I would highly recommend Stani as an instructor. He is highly skilled to teach beginners, as well as advanced students. Sono venuta a Ostuni per imparare l'italiano in un ambito tranquillo e per conoscere la cultura locale fuori di un circuito turistico tipico. E così ho trovato Casa di Puglia: simpatico, interessante e sopra tutto flexibile e personalizzata. Me ne vado, contenta del sogiorno troppo breve, nel bagaglio ci sono bellissimi ricordi di giri a Ostuni pero anche a Lecce, Polignano, etc. tutti pieni di sapore e di sorrisi. Me ne vado con un italiano molto migliorato e orgogliosa delle nuove conoscenze. Grazie, Stani, per tutto, tu sei un professore ed un ospite meraviglioso. Ich kam nach Ostuni, um in einem ruhigen Rahmen Italienisch zu lernen und um die örtliche Kultur ausserhalb des touristischen Mainstream zu erfahren. So habe ich Casa di Puglia gefunden: sympathisch, interessant und vor allem flexibel und persönlich. Jetzt geht's nach Hause, glücklich über den kurzen Aufenthalt, mit wunderschönen Erinnerungen von Düften und Lächeln im Gepäck, von Excursionen in Ostuni aber auch nach Lecce, Polignano, etc. Jetzt geht's nach Hause mit viel besseren Italienischkenntnissen und stolz auf die neuen Erfahrungen. Sto scrivendo con sentimenti mixed. Dopo tre settimane come uno student sotto la guida di Stani a Casa di Puglia, mi sento triste perché il mio tempo è finito. Comunque sono molto soddisfatto con my progress che ho fatto. Ho imparato più in tre settimane con Stani che 2 anni di classi a Melbourne, Australia. C'è una lunga strada ahead ma mi sento contento (confident) di continuare. Durante tutti i classi l'atmosfera era informale e take place in una bella casa typical da Ostuni. Mi ho piaciuto che l'enfasi era sulla conversazione e tutti istruzioni erano in italiano. La grammatica era sempre data attraverso il contesto (grammar was always given through context). Questo ha contribuito alla comprensione e fluency. Molto interessanti e piacevoli escursioni sono state organizzate in proposito alla storia e la cultura di questa bellissima regione Puglia. The course is both stimulating and informative and it's an excellent learning process.
